What you can explore
A network connecting cited works that appear together in reference lists.

What you need
Selected project sources with usable cited-reference information.
How to use it
- Select sources containing reference metadata.
- Choose Co-citation in Bibliometrics.
- Review the reference network and coverage; open AI Insights for optional AI-assisted interpretation.
Illustrative example
Suppose two papers in your selected sources both cite Reference A and Reference B. In a co-citation network, the references are nodes; an edge connects them because they were cited together. Whether the link appears depends on available reference metadata and thresholds. It does not mean the references agree or cite each other. In SciMaps paper mapping, the cited references must also be retained in the selected analytical corpus to appear as nodes.
Interpretation and limitations
Incomplete reference coverage and thresholds affect links. Co-citation reflects shared citation context, not agreement between works. Results describe the selected sources and available metadata; they do not represent all research in a field.
